Advocacy isn’t confined to meeting rooms, scheduled appointments, or normal business hours
Successful campaigns are relentless. They create opportunities for education and outreach and take full advantage of existing avenues for advocacy and political participation. They engage not just with policymakers and elected officials, but with all stakeholders, starting with and driven by impacted communities on the ground.
Ensuring that the presence of the anti-poverty community is felt and that our unified message is heard and received are crucial to the passage of impactful policy. ECPCA’s achievements are the result of campaigns that have followed this recipe.
Our education and IMAGINE campaigns work in tandem to produce and participate in a variety of events and activities that share the data and history behind poverty, the solutions we have to end it, and the stories and expertise of those impacted by poverty.
ECPCA is on the ground with our communities throughout the year. We participate in events across California and nationally, including Washington, D.C. We maintain a presence in Sacramento to connect with leaders on our initiatives and continually uplift the importance of children and family-first decisions.

Currently, we host two marquee events each year.
Legislative Briefing
Kicking off each legislative session, this event serves as an introduction to the ECPCA Coalition and our policy agenda. While geared toward policymakers and staff, it is a key learning opportunity and entry point into anti-poverty advocacy.
IMAGINE Rally
Scheduled in the spring, the IMAGINE rally refocuses and reenergizes partners, community members, and policymakers to do the right thing for children and families. The rally agenda highlights youth and community speakers. Attendees have the opportunity to engage in advocacy and meet with decision makers.
ECPCA engages in lobbying and direct and grassroots advocacy activities via the GRACE End Child Institute.

End Child Poverty Bus Tour
May 17-20, 2019: Beginning in Chula Vista and ending in Sacramento, youth and parents, advocates, faith leaders, and elected officials rallied in support of the End Child Poverty Plan. A dedicated group of close partners rode the bus the entire route.
